Approach to Therapy

My approach is to work in collaboration with clients to help you develop goals for therapy and work together toward those goals. As a systemically-focused therapist, whether I am working with an individual or a family group, I will always be considering how you are in relationship with your family, work, community of friends, culture and larger community.

I provide therapy to individuals age 13 and over.  Individual sessions last fifty minutes.

Couples & Families

In couples therapy, the relationship itself is the primary focus of treatment.   I am able to work with couples in any stage of life, including life stage adjustments like: marriage preparation, considering parenthood, co-parenting, and empty-nesting.  Couples will be seen both together and as individuals as a matter of course.

When a family includes both adults and children, I may meet with the whole family at once, or in various configurations depending on your needs.

Premarital Counseling Package

I like to think of premarital counseling as "preventative care" like getting your flu shots, or going for teeth cleanings yearly. Having some structured time to look at your relationship and have guided conversations about important topics can make a big difference later in your marriage.

I offer a premarital counseling package consisting of four premarital couples sessions, two half-hour individual sessions, and one "check-up" session in your first year of marriage.  For this package, I use the Prepare/Enrich assessment and curriculum as a basis.

Fees and payment

My base fees are $85 per session for individuals, and $100 for couples. Payment is due at time of service, and I prefer check or cash. Additional service fees may apply for credit card transactions.

The premarital counseling package is $500.

I do not currently take insurance, but you may choose to pay using an HSA account. I also have sliding-scale fees available,  and will work with you to determine what fees are a best fit.

My office is currently located in Ronald United Methodist Church in Shoreline, WA. It is on the second floor of the building, but there is an elevator into the space. The church is very close to a bus stop, and has ample parking. Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have questions about accessibility.
